Assistant Manager

Full job description

Assistant Manager

Slick City is a high-energy, family-friendly action park where every shift is an adventure. We’re looking for an enthusiastic leader who loves people, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is ready to help build something special in the West Des Moines community. As Assistant Manager, you’ll help drive growth, develop a talented team, and create unforgettable experiences across every corner of our park.

Our Ideal Candidate

You’re a natural leader who leads from the floor, not the office. You bring positive energy, hold the team to a high standard, and still make work feel fun. You’re guest-obsessed, quick on your feet, and passionate about building a culture where both your team and your guests feel like they belong.

Areas You’ll Help Manage

As Assistant Manager, you’ll partner with the GM to oversee operations across all key areas of the park, ensuring every guest touchpoint delivers a high-energy, top-quality experience.

  • Cafe — Oversee daily food and beverage operations, including staffing, food safety, inventory, quality, and speed of service. Drive cafe revenue and uphold cleanliness and presentation standards.
  • Check-In — Lead the front-of-house experience — setting the tone the moment guests walk through the door. Manage flow, waivers, ticketing, and POS accuracy while keeping wait times low and energy high.
  • Parties & Events — Support the execution of birthday parties, group bookings, and private events. Coordinate with party hosts, the cafe team, and floor staff to make every celebration seamless and memorable.
  • Floor & Attractions — Maintain a safe, clean, and active park experience. Monitor attraction operations, guest engagement, and team performance throughout each shift.

What You’ll Do

  • Set the tone for an energetic, guest-first culture every single shift
  • Lead, coach, and inspire a diverse team of hourly associates across the cafe, check-in, party, and attraction areas
  • Handle guest escalations with confidence, empathy, and professionalism
  • Partner with the GM on scheduling, inventory, ordering, and facility maintenance
  • Open and close the venue; hold the standard in the GM’s absence
  • Drive sales culture and support revenue, labor, and productivity goals
  • Maintain a safe and healthy environment for guests and team members

What We’re Looking For

  • 1–2 years of supervisory experience in entertainment, hospitality, food service, or retail
  • Food service or events management experience is a strong plus
  • A genuine love for working with guests of all ages
  • Strong communication and conflict resolution skills
  • Flexible availability including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Reliable, accountable, and always-brings-the-energy attitude
  • High School Diploma required

Perks

  • Free admission for you (and your family)
  • Flexible scheduling
  • Employee recognition programs and bonus opportunities
  • Food and retail discounts
  • Exclusive employee events
  • A clear path toward General Manager
